September 25, 2026 - TICO Board approves $44,000 in Compensation Fund claims
Mississauga, ONT. – On September 22, 2026, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s (TICO) Board of Directors approved 20 claims from the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund, totalling $44,135. The approved claims will compensate 32 consumers who did not receive the travel services they had purchased.
Flyswatt Inc.
- Approved: 20 claims to assist 32 consumers, totalling $44,135.
- Denied: two claims:
- The payment was not made to a TICO registrant.
- There were no travel services paid for to Flyswatt and not provided.
TICO revoked the registration of Flyswatt Inc. on April 9, 2026, and opened the Compensation Fund claims process.

The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund is wholly financed by the industry to protect consumers who do not receive the travel services for which they paid, due to the insolvency or bankruptcy of an Ontario-registered travel agent or travel wholesaler or due to the cessation of an end supplier airline or cruise line. The Fund only covers consumers who have booked through an Ontario-registered travel agent. The Fund is administered by the Travel Industry Council of Ontario, a not-for-profit corporation.
