August 5, 2026 - TICO Board approves nearly $125,000 in Compensation Fund claims
Mississauga, ONT. – On July 28, 2026, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s (TICO) Board of Directors approved 42 claims from the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund, totalling $124,973. The approved claims will compensate 81 consumers who did not receive the travel services they had purchased.
Flyswatt Inc.
- Approved: 42 claims to assist 81 consumers, totalling $124,973.
- Denied: one claim, as the payment was not made to a TICO registrant.
TICO revoked the registration of Flyswatt Inc. on April 9, 2026, and opened the Compensation Fund claims process. Claims can be filed until Tuesday, October 13, 2026. For more information about the Compensation Fund claims process related to Flyswatt Inc., please click here.
The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund is wholly financed by the industry to protect consumers who do not receive the travel services for which they paid, due to the insolvency or bankruptcy of an Ontario-registered travel agent or travel wholesaler or due to the cessation of an end supplier airline or cruise line. The Fund only covers consumers who have booked through an Ontario-registered travel agent. The Fund is administered by the Travel Industry Council of Ontario, a not-for-profit corporation.
