Update: The charges against Muskoka District Rentals Inc., Maryrose Coleman and Ross Halloranwill have been withdrawn and Muskoka District Rentals Inc.has successfully obtained TICO registration.

Mississauga, ONT. – The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has charged Muskoka District Rentals Inc. with one count of operating as a travel agent without being registered.

Additionally, Maryrose Coleman and Ross Halloran have both been charged with one count each of operating as a travel agent without being registered, and one count each of being an Officer and Director of a Corporation and failing to take reasonable care to prevent the Corporation from committing an offence, in this case, for operating without TICO registration.

It is alleged that Muskoka District Rentals Inc. operates out of Port Carling, Ontario, renting out short-term cottages that they do not own (acting as a travel agent between cottage owners and renters).

Maryrose Coleman and Ross Halloranwill appear in court at 9 am on August 10, 2022, at 76 Pine Street in Bracebridge, Ontario.

Individuals convicted in Court of offences relating to the Travel Industry Act, 2002 are subject to fines of up to $50,000 and/or prison terms of up to two years. Corporations are subject to fines of up to $250,000.
