February 24, 2022 - TICO Board approves numerous Ontario Travel Compensation Fund claims
Mississauga, ONT. – Between December 2021 and February 2022, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s (TICO’s) Board of Directors approved 82 claims against the Ontario Travel Compensation Fund totalling $134,324.99 to assist 149 consumers who did not receive the travel services for which they had paid.
February 2022
On February 22, 2022, TICO’s Board of Directors approved 39 claims totalling $68,281.24 to assist 66 consumers who did not receive the travel services for which they had paid. The approved Ontario Travel Compensation Fund claims are as follows:
- Fly Jamaica Airways
20 claims to assist 35 consumers, totalling $29,675.12
- Jet Airways
12 claims to assist 19 consumers, totalling $15,105.97
- Sunmed Holidays Inc.
7 claims to assist 12 consumers, totalling $23,500.15
In addition, the following claims totalling $9,520.52 were denied:
- Fly Jamaica Airways
1 claim for 2 consumers, totalling $1,930.52 as the services were available to have been received.
- Albarkah Travel and Tours Inc.
3 claims for 7 consumers, totalling $7,590 as the claims were received beyond the filing deadline.
December 2021
On December 16, 2021, TICO’s Board of Directors approved 43 claims totalling $66,043.75 to assist 83 consumers who did not receive the travel services for which they had paid. The approved Ontario Travel Compensation Fund claims are as follows:
- Angie’s All Seasons Travel Inc.
1 claim to assist 2 consumers, totalling $3,917.18
- Flybe
1 claim to assist 5 consumers, totalling $490.01
- Fly Jamica Airways
14 claims to assist 26 consumers, totalling $19,333.36
- Jet Airways
26 claims to assist 49 consumers, totalling $42,248.47
- Skymoon Travel & Tours
1 claim to assist 1 consumer, totalling $54.73
In addition, the following claims totalling $15,405.00 were denied:
- Albarkah Travel and Tours Inc.
2 claims for 3 consumers, totalling $5,405 as the claims were received beyond the filing deadline.
- STS Tours
1 claim for 20 consumers, totalling $10,000 as the claims were received beyond the filing deadline.
