TICO Shares Quarterly Update on Progress in Addressing Auditor General Recommendations
Nearly three-quarters of action items directed at TICO are now complete

Mississauga, ON – Today, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) released its quarterly update on progress addressing recommendations from the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario (OAGO).

This update highlights the progress achieved through August 31, 2025. TICO has now completed 74% of the action items directed at TICO, subject to verification by the OAGO.

“Our team remains committed to implementing the Auditor General’s recommendations,” said TICO CEO Richard Smart. “With each action item completed, we strengthen the value TICO brings to consumers and Ontario’s marketplace, while becoming a more efficient and effective regulator.”

Over the past three months, TICO completed a review of its data collection across all core functions to improve regulatory efforts. Initiatives are in progress to improve TICO’s complaint handling procedures and the insights obtained from them. Additionally, work continues to progress on TICO’s transition to a risk-based oversight model.

TICO will maintain transparency through upcoming quarterly progress updates.

The OAGO’s report contains a total of 16 recommendations, with nine of those directed at TICO, six directed at both TICO and the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement (Ministry) and one directed at the Ministry.
