Toronto– Mr. Pawel Jedruch pled guilty and was convicted of one count of acting or holding himself out as being available to act as a travel agent, without first being registered as a travel agent by the Registrar, Travel Industry Act2002, contrary to paragraph 31(1)(c) of the Travel Industry Act, 2002 (the Act), specifically: advertising travel services to consumers via the internet and/or in a community newspaper contrary to paragraph 4(1)(a) of the said Act. The conviction was entered and the following sentence was imposed:

  1. Fine in the amount of $5,000 plus Victim Surcharge Fee, for a total of $6,250, payable over a period of 24 months.

Mr. Jedruch operated in Niagara Falls and elsewhere in Ontario. The offence occurred between March 2015 and October 2015. In compliance with section 4(1)(a) of the Act, since October of 2015, Mr. Jedruch has been employed by and selling travel services on behalf of an Ontario registered travel agent.
